Desert Island

Finally the old addage has come to pass and we find ourselves stranded on a desert island, synth in hand. Luckily this island has electricity and mixers, all the digital storage media you could want, and lots of booze and coffee (take your pick) but only 1 synth.

So which synth did you wind up with and what are you going to do with all your spare time? Well, fortunately you can upload the results as MP3... now if only you could email for help!

Silver Horses

A K5000s, an ADAT, and a rainy Portland afternoon. The piece began as a random ambient thing, and developed a weird western feel.

Your Pleasure

This is all Korg OASYS

Iceberg Friend

Done entirely on Virsyn Cantor, really this is just me playing around and finding out what's good about this softsynth that has some intreaging possibilities.

Linear Music

I have taken the Access Virus KB on trips to deserted islands before so it was time for a change. This trip I left everything behind except the Roland D-50.

EFM

strictly, the only hardware synth I own is the machinedrum and I thought it would be a perfect choice for this theme. I chose to limit myself to using only one instance of the EFM BD machine, ie. just one sequencer track with parameter locks to alter the sound. I programmed 10 or so patterns and then recorded (in mono for some reason) the song -- playing it

Vanishing Point Xtempt

Ok, Since apparently I am to blame for this monthly mission, I decided to take a stab at it and made up my own rules. (I do apologize for breaking the time rule - don't even try to download on dial up, sorry). My rules: Synth I have not used much (New Fantom X7), Extemporaneous, One live take including mistakes. Actually, I copped out and just did a piano piece that I made up as I went along...and along...and along.
