You'll need at least one synth with numbered presets (well that shouldn't be too hard).
Only the patches that are currently in the positions 5, 17 and 23 may be used.
No editing/programming, no copying.
Hardware is to be preferred over software. The amount of VSTis out there kinda defies the purpose of this mission.
This will give you 3 sounds from every synth you have, which should be plenty.

For the Roland 2-digit bank/patch style, just convert so: 0-63 patch number = (bank - 1) * 8 + (patch - 1). Thus 5 is 16, 17 is 32 and 23 is 37. (by Puppy)
drummaps or drum banks with the correct patchnumbers (if present) are quite alright.
or, grab a drumloop VSTi/sample cd and check out patch numbers/track numbers 5, 17 and 23.
if in doubt, use the first bank
